Mumbai, India – In an inspiring initiative to make Mumbai’s women more confident and street-smart, Arvind Khaire, founder of the CTS Self Defence System, recently led a hands-on women’s self-defence session in the Marine Drive area. The program, which drew participation from local residents, focused on transforming awareness and fear into practical action for everyday safety.

The session, which mirrored a movement first reported in The Indian Express on May 13, 2005, aimed to equip women with the essential mindset and techniques to defend themselves against real-world threats.

“We always thought our locality was safe — but safety begins with awareness and readiness,” said one participant during the Marine Drive training.

Empowering Women Through Real-World Self Defence

The CTS Self Defence System (Combat Tactical Self Defence), developed by Arvind Khaire, is built on practical, high-efficiency defence strategies. Rather than traditional martial arts routines, CTS focuses on rapid response, situational awareness, and tactical withdrawal — empowering women to act smartly under pressure.

Participants learned how to:

  • Recognize early signs of danger and avoid risky encounters.

  • Use everyday items (keys, pens, scarves) as defensive tools.

  • Apply simple, quick-response moves to escape grabs or threats.

  • Develop self-confidence through repetition and mental conditioning.

Building Confidence, Not Fear

Arvind Khaire’s philosophy is centered on turning fear into power — helping women reclaim confidence in their own safety.

“True self-defence starts before physical contact — it starts with awareness, mindset, and preparation,” said Arvind Khaire, Founder & Chief Instructor, CTS Self Defence System.

Through decades of experience and field-tested techniques, Khaire’s CTS programs have empowered thousands of women and teens across Mumbai and Maharashtra, partnering with schools, corporate offices, and community groups.
