βINSTANT COUNTER-ATTACK ESCAPEβ

Source: Times of India, Jul 12, 2025

This case proves that presence of mind + immediate resistance can stop even a moving kidnapping attempt. Itβs a real-life example of how basic self defence instinct can save a life.
A teenage schoolgirl in Thane was targeted in a kidnapping attempt while travelling in an auto-rickshaw. During the journey, she sensed danger and jumped out of the moving vehicle. While escaping, she used a geometry compass to defend herself when the accused tried to stop her. The girl managed to flee safely and later informed the police. An investigation was launched and further legal action was initiated against the accused.

(How These Kidnappers Operate)
Attack during short-distance auto rides
Force-entry into moving vehicles
Depend on shock, fear, and silence of the victim
Escape through narrow lanes after the crime
Typical Victims:
Teen girls
Students in uniform
First-time solo commuters

Increase in solo student commuting
Poor monitoring of illegal/unauthorised autos
Low visibility zones near schools & coaching centres
Offenders betting on victim freezing in fear
Delayed reporting in many past cases

β’ Avoid boarding an auto with only the driver, especially at deserted spots
β’ Share your live location with family while commuting
β’ Sit near the exit, not deep inside the vehicle
β’ Keep a pointed object handy (pen, pencil, etc.)
β’ Avoid isolated pickup points
β’ Trust your instincts β if something feels wrong, donβt enter
β Rule: Safety begins before you board.
